The impeller transfers energy to the fluid as it passes through the pump, increasing the fluid's velocity at the pump's discharge outlet. The impeller is nothing more than a series of rubber vanes molded around a hub. The vanes are flexible, and the hub rotates on an eccentric within the stainless steel-lined pump housing.
