The 16-foot Taylor Made standard mooring whip is designed for boats 29 feet to 33 feet in length weighing between 10,000 pounds and 20,000 pounds. When using this mooring whip, Taylor Made recommends using the standard or “X” method for setting dock lines. This method is popular in areas with normal docking conditions. In the “X” method, you will use the two spring lines and two breast lines that are included with the kit. The spring lines are designed to keep the boat from fore and aft. The breast lines are used to determine the distance the boat will be from the dock, which should be a minimum of three to four feet. A perfectly functioning system will have all of the dock lines at equal tension when the boat is moored.
