The big boy buoy in the Taylor Made line of Sur-Moor T3C mooring buoys is this 30-inch model (part number TAY46375). Boatersland Discount Marine Supplies has all of Taylor Made’s buoys in stock including this large buoy that has a tube diameter of three inches, a buoy diameter of 30 inches, 95-inch circumference and 500 pounds of buoyancy. These mooring buoys have seamless and tough, one-piece polyethylene shell. These buoys have a flanged collar made from rigid PVC tubing and a blue strip for nighttime visibility.
Docking your boat to a buoy mooring system is not too difficult and gets easier with practice. Remember to slowly approach the buoy from down wind and/or down current. If the wind and current are going in different directions, decide which one has more effect on your boat and approach against it. Tie one end of the mooring line to a cleat on the deck of your boat and pass the other end through the eyebolt of the pick-up line on the buoy. Secure the second end to the same cleat. You then need to check to see how the boat is pulling on the buoy. If it is not a horizontal pull, increase the length of the mooring line.
